Muni Hat Trick
I propose a new rule/game for Muni. It’s called the Muni Hat Trick. It’s really fun and will involve prizes for the winners. Here’s how you play:
- Stand outside and wait for Muni
- Bonus points if you’re waiting in the rain
- Wait for 1 bus on your line to pass you going the opposite direction
- Wait for a second bus to pass you in the opposite direction
- Wait for a third bus to pass in the opposite direction
- CONGRATULATIONS! You’re a winner.
Now tell ‘em what they won!
If you’re lucky enough to witness a Muni Hat Trick you can take your pick of the following actions:
- Curse under your breath and silently despise Muni
- Scream “Fuck you Muni” as loud as you can so the children playing in the park across the street can hear
I usually choose the latter, I find it’s far more rewarding.
But honestly, 3 fucking buses? I waited for 35 minutes for the fucking 27 to go up to meet some friends in the TenderNob and had to watch 3 empty buses drive by going the other way. The trip took me a solid hour and 20 minutes. But let me tell you, if you’re in the area you should check out Nick’s Crispy Tacos. Pretty damn good. Worth an hour and 20 minutes? Maybe…

This happens all the time. Noticed it 20 years ago. In fact, turns out they work hard to make this happen… just think how hard it is, mathematically speaking, to come up with a schedule that guarantees that no matter where you’re waiting in the City, three busses will go the other way before one comes your way. But they manage it; my hat’s off!

I’ve experienced a similar kind of hat-trick waiting for a train in the subway…
Three virtually empty trains from one of the other lines (i.e. the L-Taraval) pass by going your direction, before one standing-room-only train for the line you want (N-Judah) shows up.

I am very thankful for this website. I appreciate the making light of the awefulness of Muni. However, more must be done. I’ve been trying to think of radical effective action that can be taken that is perfectly legal, but that’s what the Examiner’s Op ed is for. So we’re are just going to have to break the law! Some of the slogans on this site would make excellent stickers to be tagged on everything muni. Come on, think up some more and run off some black marker stickers at work. “Muni: just barely faster than walking.” “Muni: At least they don’t kill people…oh…um…nevermind.” Or maybe make up your own Acronym. I’m not clever enough to give an example.

Новый способ давления на кандидата на пост Главы г. Химки
Новый способ “наказать” тех, кто посмел участвовать в выборной кампании не на стороне действующей власти изобрели правоохранительные органы г.о. Химки.
Руководствуясь не нормой закона, а чьей-то “волей” сотрудники милиции решили “проверить” все фирмы, внесшие денежные средства в избирательный фонд неудобных кандидатов.
Начались “проверки” с телефонных звонков - где директор, сколько человек работает на фирме. После чего последовали “письма счастья” с просьбой предоставить всю бухгалтерскую документацию, учредительные документы фирмы, и даже, план экспликации БТИ.
Такие запросы химкинским фирмам рассылает 1 отдел Оперативно-розыскной части № 9 Управления по налоговым преступлениям ГУВД Московской области за подписью начальника подполковника милиции Д.В. Языкова.
И всё это в то время, когда Президент дал прямое указание правоохранительным органам о прекращении всех незаконных проверок малого и среднего бизнеса. С это целью внесены изменения в Федеральный закон “О милиции” - из статьи 11 этого закона исключены пункты 25 и 35, на основании которых ранее правоохранительные органы имели право проверять финансово-хозяйственную деятельность предприятий.
Видно, об изменениях действующего законодательства местные правоохранительные органы не уведомлены. И не смотрят телепередачи с выступлениями Президента.
Может быть, эта публикация подвигнет их к исполнению указаний Президента, а также к изучению и соблюдению действующего законодательства
